Gil Toss: Your Favourite In-Game Purchases

Zenny.  Munny.  Money.  Pearls.  Cash.  Gold.  Gil.  Gald.  Simoleans.  Hearts.  Coins.  Rupees.  Bells.  $.  Money makes the world go round, they say.  Surely that's true in real life and very much so in our virtual lives.  Without it, you could rely on finding your armour in a chest.  Sure, why not? Perhaps you can steal a weapon from a monster? You could do that too.  Well, you should you know because playing the thief is all sorts of fun but only in video games, you morally depraved fiends! Sometimes though, you just have to go out there and make that cash to spend on all sorts of cool things! And how does one do that exactly?

Chopping bushes surely has its charms.

Chillin' n' Grillin'

Even back then in 1998, I was not the sharpest tool in the shed.  It was some where in between absorbing my bleventeenth enemy and assimilating its abilities, questioning why I was fighting with characters from something called the "Thirstquencher Empire" and groaning at the annoyance that was Princess Fillet that I realized something.  I was assisting the Allucaneet Kingdom and wait, how come most everyone's named after food or drink?  Heeeeyyy...wait a damned minute...

As I was sitting here trying to pick out one aspect of this game I wanted to talk about, I realized I loved it so much that I may just have to split this up into smaller posts this week so that the focus is not so strained and all over the place in just one write-up.  Aren't you all so special and lucky?! No? Not really...? I think you guys are...stop selling yourselves so short, TAY! But I digress...

Like a Record, Baby

North.  South.  East.  Or was it West?  Where did that mutt go? What was it the Jack-in-the-Box said about the Rocking Horse? Where's that happy music being played? Was I supposed to take the path on the left through the trees or the right near the recovery spring?
Back at the entrance, I resolve to be more careful to save his tiny, furry butt this time.  I might actually read and focus on the instructions given when that colourful, swaying accordion fool gives it to me; and I might pay enough attention this time to make it to my destination (instead of looking for trouble).
