U2: Rockin' The Bad Juju, Part I

It may not happen often but sometimes, even though the signs are very clear, I choose to ignore warnings of ill.

From the start, I probably should have known nothing good would come of the U2 September 25th Giants Stadium gig, when purchasing those 6 tickets compromised one of my credit cards - the good one that used to give me Amazon Gift Certificates.

Being treated as a criminal and accused of being someone else is not enough of an omen for me, I suppose.

Then one month before the concert, the date of the show was changed from Friday to Wednesday.

Wha'?

So, just to keep track of it all, our friend Sons along with others all over the world flying out to this show, were SCREWED air fare, hotel fare, work hours etc etc to facilitate a changed date schedule for a religious holiday two days later, that required the NY Jets to re-schedule their game.

Wha'?

Yes. Due to the fact that a particular religious denomination cannot possibly adhere to their chosen faith AND miss a Jets game (honestly, priorities of your choosing, anyone?), U2 fans from all over had to re-book flights, lose money and curse just to go to this effin' show two days earlier.

Please note that U2's excuse was that it was infeasible for them to pull down their stage setting in the three hours less time they were allotted.

Never mind they are stinking filthy wealthy bastards who can hire the extra hands to assist in a moving; and never mind they played a show in MA on the 21st which ended at 11:10 PM or so - had to dismantle the set, pack it up, drive it to NJ only to set it up again for the 23d.

My math may be awful but I'm fairly certain that I am coming to the same conclusion to the equation set forth herein.

Result: We were assed out for no really good reason.

Things do not end there.

Finally deciding to buy tickets for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs Radio City Music Hall concert on the 23RD for H1's birthday present, suddenly became a problem.

Equation: YYY + 23 / U2 + 23
Result: whYYYU2...?!?!?! (x23)

Amazing acoustics, great seats and a chance to sing "Zero" with H1 on a nice, relaxing evening just went out the window because Sons changed her flight to come see U2 on the 23rd.

Things, as they say, can ALWAYS be worse.

Here's another for you -

Equation: $170 dollars changing fee + 10 hours of work for 10 days straight just to get 2 days off to come to NYC to see U2 and then having your flight cancelled 3 hours before the concert due to equipment failure = ?
Result: Nightmare. Absolute friggin' nightmare.

We bought a cake of the chocolate double temptation kind - a cake for H1's and Sons' Birthday, and a reminder of why we should be drowing our sorrows from this horrible experience in a chocolatey overload of chocolate mousse, cheese cake, fudge and chocolate ganache:

Currenlty listening to: "Fell in Love with a Girl" - by The White Stripes.

Powerful Logic

HOchie 1: I don't like Ice T. because he's married to CoCo. CoCo is ridiculous. And any man who married CoCo must be ridiculous too. Nick Lachey was also ridiculous for a while there.

Or 2: The streets in London are so clean, that the pigeons are thin.
HOchie 1: I don't know how they manage to keep the streets so clean if the bins are all hidden.

The Memorable Quotes I Failed To Mentioned For The Past Two Weeks

"You'll always be close to my heart. Or 2 Supports Me." - X on 2006-05-12

GChat Away Messages:

MC's: Swine is a Filthy Animal.
Or 2's: MC is a Filthy Animal.
X's: Therefore MC is a Swine.

Ah, the power of logic...

And speaking of logic -
Remember the chuckles? Yes. I remember when MC sent us this brilliant display at genius mathetical problem solving. And I remembered it again two weeks ago after a scenario went down, a like so:

During our visit to the Bodies Exhibit (which by the way was good yet verrrry shady) :

"TD5, can you come help me out for a second?" - MC
"What's up?" - TD5
"I can't find it." - MC
"Find what?" - TD5
"I don't understand it...I can't find it." - MC
"Well, here's the digestive tract and nutrients go where they need to go and waste is excreeted from here." - TD5
"I still don't understand. I can't find it. I'm seeing a lot of holes. Where's the asshole?" - MC
"..." - TD5
Bounce in "I see it. There it is!" - Or 2. Bounce out.
"It's so...small." - MC.

At which point, TD5 walks off.

When relating this fantastic story of MC and the Asshole to X, her comment was: Doesn't MC wipe his own ass?! What does he mean 'small'?!

The Truth About J.B.

Now I know why Jack Bauer never really cries (or at least the reason I've deduced)!
In an interview with David Letterman, Kiefer Sutherland was asked if he hears Donald Sutherland in his head whenever he does a scene. Kiefer replied that the good piece of advice given to him by his father was to never lie in a scene..."for example, if the scene requires crying and you don't feel it, then just don't fake it because they'll just know and try to act the scene in another direction."

So THAT's why Jack Bauer never cries! Kiefer never feels the need to cry. That or Jack Bauer is an ass.

And They Called it "Cheating"

Can anyone see the difference?
Anyone?
No, no...Besides adding a whole other character, that's not what I meant.
I argued with myself for quite a while - do I copy/paste my eyeless friend to the wacom art? Or do I re-create him using the wacom?
My reasoning & conversation with myself for choosing the first was this -
"Screw this! I drew him a long time ago and just because it wasn't with my wacom, it doesn't make him invalid. I created him with a pencil on paper. There's nothing wrong with that!"
"But...didn't you say something about how until you re-create him with the wacom, you cannot call yourself wacom master?"
"Shut up, B- Logic!"
Yes, that's EXACTLY how it went down.
I decided I'd just do touch up with the wacom on him. Why waste a perfectly good drawing that there's no way in hell I could re-create.

But now everyone knows my horrid little secret...
When I was young, it seemed that life was so wonderful, a miracle, oh it was beautiful, magical. And all the birds in the trees, well they'd be singing so happily, joyfully, playfully watching me. But then they send me away to teach me how to be sensible, logical, responsible, practical. And they showed me a world where I could be so dependable, clinical, intellectual, cynical. There are times when all the world's asleep, the questions run too deep for such a simple man.

And that's because I'm a "B-" logical buffoon.

Quote of yesterday's luncch "Sad Puchuh =( "
Quote of today's luncch "HOchie 1's Luncch =( "
Why the sad faced quotes? HOchie 1 was stuck in Hell a.k.a. NJ for most of this week.
Ah, the new axis of evil - NJ, CT & LI...

People to thank for the making of this blog entry: Supertramp.
Currently playing: "Tales of Symphonia End Theme" by Matoi Sakuraba
What I wanted to be playing: "Hero" by Bloc Party. But that Matoi Sakuraba is good times as well.
Currently playing: "#1 Zero" by Audioslave. I'll be singing this tomorrow.
"Just when you think you've left me blind... I will keep you in the corner of my eye." And you will be, Tom. Oh yes. Oh yes.

Goo'day.
