Obsessions For Weeks: 5/11/08 - 6/02/08

Honey and Clover

H1's been upset by my love of the H and C but it's hilarious! Never you people mind it's about two love triangles amongst art students! I love that crazy ass Morita and that's good enough for me. Can't you just tell which one he is in this pic? Heh.

Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings

Who knew I'd buy and enjoy a strategy game? After the 1998/1999 debacle that was Final Fantasy Tactics, I swore I'd never be humilated on a battle field again!

And so the carnage is a daily ritual since I started playing. It's okay, I'm doing great so far...uh, great enough. Besides which, while everyone else loved them some Balthier, I loved me some Basch and I get to see him again even if it's near the end of the game. Awww, cutie Basch.

Happy Birthday, Bunji

Happy Birthday, Budgie!
We're late on the blog but we didn't forget to call!
You let us know how you want to shake us down for cash and/or pyos.

We love you!

Bad Luck, Boo

Mario Party 8 is turning out to be my nemesis unlike my good friend Mario Party 5.

Out of 5 games, I lost 4.

I finally won tonight thanks to sheer skill, a tad bit more thinking, loan komodo-ery and some luck.

Heh.

Memorable Conversation of the evening:

A pot of 61 coins got split up between Yoshi and Boo but Boo was favoured and got 31 with Yoshi getting 30.

Chrissy Lee (Mario): Who got 31?
H1 (Yoshi): Boo
Or 2 (Boo): Heehee.
Chrissy Lee: That's discrimination! Boo only got that extra coin because he's white!!!!!
Or 2: Well, it's not easy being green.

OOF, Not Entirely

The day began with McDonald's brekkie. After the third time of having a half day sickness from the buiscuit from previous McDs' experiences, I decided to get a bagel instead. Surprise, surprise, that seems to have worked for me. I thought it was just everything about that place that got me ill but I guess it was just my beloved buiscuit. Meh.

We then went to the Virgin Megastore where they were having their awesome $10.00 summer sale. I came out empty-handed. What's so awesome about that sale? It just is, okay? It just so turns out that I already had copies of what was on sale though I have to say it really pissed me off to see Radiohead's Pablo Honey on sale for $10.00 after convincing myself 10 years after it's release that I would never find it for anything less than 16.99, and finally took the plunge and bought it at that time at that price. Curses!

The only thing I would have picked up was Jeff Buckley's Grace but like an ass, I didn't. I don't know why I didn't either because I've known I'm supposed to have that thing for years now, and expect to be judged now for saying I don't. Curses!

Maybe the recession made me walk out of there with all my cash intact or maybe it was the fact that I knew I'd be spending money when Chrissy Lee and I visited the MOMA, that's the Museum of Modern Art for you peons who don't know (see how one trip there makes me smug? Now I know how Apple users feel!).

$20.00 a piece later, we ran around the great space that is that building and saw naked lady statues, tried to flip coins to be caught in pictures in front of naked lady statues, surrounded ourselves by a racist visual exhibit by Olafur Eliasson in which everyone under the yellow lights became, and to quote Chrissy Lee, "the same pale colour" (sounds racist to you guys too, right? Yeah. The exhibit was still very cool though...you know, minus the racist factor), walked around some suspect pieces of 'art', viewed ourselves from a window x50 instead of a building across the street and questioned the value of OOF (let it be known though that there's nothing greater than OOF!).

Random photos from the Museum I:

Like H1 and Sons before us, I will attempt to rename some of the things I saw today.

I call this one - Where's the coin?!

It's barely obscured by the... never you mind that.

Vertigo to a Hippie and to Me!

I Like It, The Girl is Not Included but Makes For Some Goo'd Times

I Don't Know What's Up With The Duck Ass Either...

...But The True Beauty is That The Picture's Not Coming Off The Wall, Not That I'm Saying There's Anything Beautiful About a Lady Duck Ass

Since Blogger's being a PITA currently, part II will come in the near future.

After scouring the museum for 1.45 hours, Chrissy Lee realised that he had not seen the apple cube. I had to explain to him that it was not a permanent fixture (and who would want that shart as a permanent exhibit, really?) but he insisted we must have missed it. So off he tried to go to the paintings and sculpture section to which I held my head in shame and asked him if he was sure that would be in that section.
Coming to his senses, we wandered back to the trash...uh, I mean, the floor for architecture and something, something and discovered that an IBM had taken its place. Hahahahahahaha. Ah, no, not really but it was gone. And even though it's not as if Chrissy Lee's room at home isn't a museum itself housing the same cube apple thingie that used to be at the MOMA, I guess it was kind of rough on him not seeing it there.

After much disappointment (for him), we went to Pongsri after dodging the KFC and had some good time Thai Food. Then it was off to work for me to drop off the remaining food. See that? I can never have a day off without being OOF completely, even if I go there to not work but what do I care? I got to use the bathroom and drink water.

Not much happened after that - we walked around some more to find a wallet, drank java bits frappucino from Starbucks and ate Ben & Jerry's that was not the one I wanted. Instead of the effin' "Imagine Whirled Peace", I ended up eating "Cinnamon Bun". Those people wanted me to start a war up in there.

So that's it, we went to collect H1 from her horrid day at the jorb and then we went home and played Lexitron on the train, as we escaped a terrible thunderstorm.

Now my head hurts and I'm OOF to shower.

Heehee, that is a gross misuse of the word OOF.

Still the greatest piece eva'!

Memorable Quotes and Conversations of the Day:

Chrissy Lee: H1, you should have seen these nasty bagels that looked like lumps of shit.
Or 2: They weren't bagels. They were croissants. Covered in paint. Red and blue. I don't know what lumps of shit he was talking about.

Alex: Maybe he crushed that butterfly because you know, the butterfly was sickly and retarded.
Chrissy Lee: So you crush it because it's a little slow?!

While watching Independence Day,

Or 2: Did they (the humans) outfit the alien spaceships with seatbelts?
Chrissy Lee: I don't know...
Or 2: Huh. I guess the aliens did it. Who knew (that aliens were so conscious about safety)?

Ugh, I Guess MC is Happy

R.Kelly was acquitted on the child pornography charges and is a completely free man.

How do you think he's going to celebrate this win? Probably go have sex with an 13 year old or an 8 year old, right?

CNN: Bringing You The News and... T-Shirts?

T-shirts!
I noticed this months ago but sometimes when CNN has a fun or ridiculous story, there's an icon or two next to it. If it's a video clip, there's a little video camera icon. If there's a headline worthy of being on a t-shirt, there's a t-shirt icon.

That's right! You can have T-shirts made! It's strange and brilliant all at once!

Everyday I check to see what sort of t-shirt I could buy. I will buy one one day but today's choice almost went into a shopping cart. There was something about Mud Fearing Piggy Wears Wee Boots.

Man, I really should buy that shirt. I wonder if it's too late?

Currently listening to/watching: Burn Notice. I enjoy this stupid show.

OOF

These three words make for the greatest piece of Modern Art, and the greatest use of a word to describe most people in this world, Boohead not included.

Did I mention I can't wait to be OOF on Monday?

Currently listening to: "Out of Dreams" by The Rascals. I need to get into this band. I'm kind of loving hid. Miles. Ah yes, another ukker to love.

Speak No Ill of the Spam

Sales of Spam---that much maligned meat---are rising as consumers are turning more to lunch meats and other lower-cost foods to extend their already stretched food budgets.
Spam's maker, Hormel Foods Corp., reported last week that it saw strong sales of Spam in the second quarter, helping push up its profits 14 percent. According to sales information coming from Hormel, provided by The Nielsen Co., Spam sales were up 10.6 percent in the 12-week period ending May 3, compared to last year.
Kimberly Quan, a stay-at-home mom of three who lives just outside San Francisco, has been feeding her family more Spam in the last six months as she tries to make her food budget go further. ... Quan just bought a couple more cans of Spam on sale and some ramen, the instant noodle dish long a staple on college campuses. Her food and gas budgets are together, so she's had to cut back on food spending while the cost of gas increases. Her favorite Spam meal? Spam and macaroni and cheese.

- the above text was taken from a news article I read last week. I do not recall the source.

Just as spam saved the troops in WWII, so will spam save us during the recession! My favourite use of spam (while spam with mac. and cheese is goo'd times) is the H1 mix with spaghetti. The same may be applied to vienna sausages, another staple I will be ingesting in the coming months.
People, stop being down with spam! It's salty 'fake' meat. What's not to love?!

Currently listening to: "Time Honoured Tradition" by Kaiser Chiefs. Yeah, TD5 I'm not really loving them after being harrassed by various sources to listen including yourself. I feel they might annoy me and not be able to make a regular rotation but if you were to provide me with their albums I would gladly accept. Also, this song does tend to crack me up for reasons beyond my comprehension. Actually, it's kind of sad for me to listen to it right now.

The Things We've Missed For The Past 4 Weeks

It's been a rough few weeks and the HoChies have been quite busy. Life keeps moving though but sometimes it's hard to move along with it. There have been days when all we wanted to do was resist the flow, and just be stagnant. There have been many days where trudging to the daily routine was more than a task but life keeps throwing itself in our faces. There's work to be done (and extra busy H1 has been), hours to be made and things to do.

I had no intention of writing a post like this but here it is. I really should use this extra time to go take a "nap" before I head off.

In any event, in the last four weeks we've seen the return of Beetchie! Fun times have already been had but not nearly enough. It's never enough but when is it ever?
We had dim sum together, watched Iron Man together (which was not a bad movie, actually), gained and lost fans, a PR Firm and bodyguards for the Oxtails.

Congratulations to the B. on her first semester at Vet. School. We are proud.

Chrissy Lee is here! Unfortunately he has gotten a cold passed along by yours truly. Heh, I may be a bitch but this was unintentional, honest! He brought me presents of various kinds - food, and lots of good jokes but also tortured me by dragging me to the 5Th Ave. Apple Store. Ugh. Thanks. Thanks for torturing me Chrissy Lee.

He's here and we're enjoying our time with - last night we played Wario Ware: Smooth Moves. He cheated in scrabble and has been leaving a trail of smug all over. It's been a while since we've lounged on the couch together, so this time is most welcome.

H1 and I have still been walking arm in arm to work, yesterday I had to hold her by a string or else she would wander into the street. We've missed opportunities at free stuff: t-shirts, plastic frisbees, umbrellas, bags and plastic blow up balls all in support of a green Eco campaign. Ironic much? Yeah. But we saved the environment some and saved our mental health by not crossing the street to get swag near the Faux News Building.

Evening addition/edit:

Sadness descended on to us today not that it has really left us since that day but on cue, Brian still found a way to mess with me this day. But I do what I always do when he does that and did that - I laugh.

We did not miss the opportunity to get swag off the street today. It was not as "cool" as yesterday's but we got Chrissy Lee a brand new Egrip for his brand new Samsung powered by Sprint phone when he gets it.

What else happened today? Hmmm... well, we did go to Burger King and got an Iron Man toy for Chrissy Lee to assemble. Go ahead Chrissy Lee, I didn't see you use the Internet to snap that together. Tch. I guess that's why it took you so long though. Har har.

And finally, today I was supposed to find out if I won free tickets for Coldplay but it seems like I will not be seeing toilet on the 23rd. My luck is poor because even for things I don't want to win, I still lose.

Ah well.

Currently listening to: "Mistaken for Strangers" by The National. I'm not quite sure how I feel about this band yet but it's growing on me.

Obsessions for Weeks: 4/23/08 - 5/10/08

Patapon

I've fought a giant crab, two actually and they wailed on me the first time but never fear, the great Znyx reigns supreme! This game is awesome and I'm almost finished, sadly but here are my lovelies. Did I mention I've got some fancies now and that H1 loves the big fuzzy Dekapon in my army?

The Last Shadow Puppets

Curse that talented boy! Curse his 22 year old self and his 22 year old talented friend! He had me swooning again, just like I am now. And sullying the blog once more. Sorry H1! Oh yeah, Sometimes I swoon over Miles as well. All I have to say is, Amy Trollhouse is too drugged out to write the new Bond Theme but who the eff needs her? Just let the Last Shadow Puppets do it instead! But can someone explain to me why they're flash backin' to times when they weren't even near being born yet?!

Pingu

Notice the pissed off look?

Notice the surprise! Unfortunately, a picture can't do justice to the cursing that leaves that bitchy ass penguin's mouth. And that's rather sad.

But I can get a sad picture of the results of his naughty behaviour. Awww, poor Pingu...

Nikon D80

Do I use the gov't issued stimulus check to get that new camera I want? Or do I save that money and spend it another day? I'm going to get it sometime but is that time now? Look at that beautiful thing ..sigh.. and more importantly, it'll take beautiful pictures!

Happy Birthday Sandy Cheeks!

She more than likely will never read this but Happy Birthday Month to S.Cheeks. I hope it's good and that 2008 will work out. It's been 2 years now since things are supposed to be better.

Not That It Matters After Last Month's Horridness

Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit. Hare, Hare, Hare.

Yesterday's Mini-Concert

The "show" at NBC yesterday morning was one we could have done without. As we were doing our usual walk-by, we heard Fergie and she sounded much like how her face looks: like ass.

Apparently many others could have done without that show as well because no one was there. Bwahahahahahaha.

Ter-ri-ble

I wish camera eye wouldn't keep things so real - Delete! Delete! Delete!

Hidden

I've found things from over a decade ago stashed in my room...

Pictures of friends from Trinidad that I don't talk to anymore.

Toy aliens from my obsession years ago in Binghamton.

Resident Evil figures that are all 'action' and shoot arrows from crossbows, I forgot I had, and all manners of monsters.

I finally found my trusty Phillips and flat head screwdrivers that took apart my computer and came in handy often in my life.

There's a letter from Gentian with pictures of Trent she sent to me ages ago when I was still in love with the man...1994 to be exact.

Two Dilbert comics collections I vaguely remember we had, copies of Calvin and Hobbes' books and a giant Word Seek we bought sometime...why? I don't even know. Were we traveling? Or was it just for fun? We love that sort of thing and I don't remember why we have it.

Drawings of my characters I'd forgotten I'd made and safely tucked away. I wonder how long I've been drawing the same 9 or so characters I've loved? I've loved them for a long time apparently, much longer than I can recall.

I even found a drawing that H1 did of Thomas the cat and Heebie-Jeebie the mouse (I tucked it back into hiding H1, so I won't be digging it up again anytime soon).

But of all this shit in my room, I can't find the one thing I set out to find.

I tore the damned room apart and I still don't know where it is...

I want my picture of my Brian that I took.

The one c.d. I will never part with is In Stone We Trust.

I'll treasure it forever because he gave it to me for one of my birthdays and I remember how excited he was.

H1 remembers her 'Little School' and the little cooking note pad he gave to her because, "that's where you should be, Patty - in the kitchen cooking for me! Love, Your Little School."

We love you and miss you Brian.

Patapon

I have yet to fight a giant crab monster or get Patapons that look so fancy but as the great Merciful God Znyx, I let my Patapons rest while I play...

...Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core

I'm just really obsessed with the Great One-Winged Angel Unmerciful Sephiroth. Those other two aren't worthy! I feel a bit sad for Zack too. Who knew I'd ever get attached? But Aerith is still an ass.

xxxHOLiC : Kei

Yay! A second season for xxxHOLiC! I never thought it'd happen but here we are. I am so happy that my Watanuki is back, sad about Himawari Chan and loving Domeki a lot more than I did - at least, this is what I think I will be feeling if only someone would sub the first episode already! Ugh, I need to learn Japanese, clearly.

BLEACH

Once again, Tite Kubo proves he'll give you the good stuff and create twists in the Bleach Universe that'll make you remember that time you said, "OMG, WTF! Aizen's Alive?!"

HIRAKO SHINJI

Only this time, you'll be screaming, "OMG! Shinji's a former Captain?!" And while we probably should have seen that coming... here's to my Shinji. I. Love. Him.

Why wouldn't I love the best looking captain of the Gotei 13? Har har.

Again With The Assholery

That is NIN.

So, Trent's been doing a lot of shart lately. Two weeks ago he said he'd stream it live - the 'grand' event of his signing the LE copies of Ghosts I-IV. Umm. Okay. Whatever. Lame but whatever.

Today I get my pre-sale code for a NIN ticket. Hooray! They'll make it all glossy for me and put my name on it, and I can collect so no scalpers can get involved. Brilliant! But not brilliant - NJ. Once again, another effin' concert in NJ. What's with the NY boycott, you assholes? Grrrrr.

Finally, the release of a new album that was, "on me" said Trent. A free download, of songs that are probably rejects from previous albums, maybe? Maybe. I don't know yet because I've not yet listened but I get to the download page and was greeted by elitist behaviour.

Don't you be pointing out my inadequacies, Reznor! Don't you be telling me I'm stoopid, I should download what version then describing my stupidity for me in jargon I don't want to get involved with!

Just so you know, I know what it all means!

...

Currently listening to: "Mis-takes" by The Charlatans. Here's another album that is tossed in the category "Yeah, this really needed to be free", the same as The Slip might be headed for. I won't know until tomorrow.

Sometimes it's a mistake to download things handed to me for free.

Not A Winning Combination

Eff my semi-prophetic mind, H1's goat-assy mouth and "rabbit, rabbit, rabbit...hare, hare, hare".

Now that I think about it, 'hare, hare, hare' didn't really pan out last month so next month I'll go with 'here, here, here'.

To all those assholes who won't just come out and say we're in a recession...eff you.

May Day, indeed.

Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit...Hare, Hare, Hare

It's that time of the month again, where we wish good luck upon ourselves with the chant.

So here's to the month of May.

Hope it's a good one!

Currently listening to: Beetchie on skype.
