Yeah, it's been a while since I blogged so that was not the most clever of titles but hell, the Wii did not have the best name for a console either. The concept behind it may have been sort of appealing but then the atrocity that is the "Wii U" name for the new console...::shudder:: is anything but. However, like all things, I'll get over it and get used to it as well I'm certain.
For now, I'm doing a bit of retiring of the Wii. Kinda...

No More Heroes
Frass did me a kindness and bought me this Wii game for my birthday last year. With the $18 price tag, and stellar reviews of this 2008 release even though not a genre I play, I decided I could not go wrong. Sometimes, there's nothing wrong with a hack and slash game (only in games!). I like the quirky art from the Assassination missions to my part-time jobs, playing a classic arcade game on the subway and feeling like I'm playing an arcade game in of itself, the crazy character designs and boss fights, and well - the boys humour while not the best, is still pretty funny but the game would be not as fun without its star...
Travis Touchdown
The man is an ass. An otaku, a loser and a foul-mouthed sweetheart (at heart?). Travis really is a crude, loveable character with the lame one-liners, and no brain. I like his style, I like his beam katana, and I like dressing him up before a killing spree. Having only started this game on the 16th - unranked and at No. 11; today I'm currently the 3rd highest ranked Assassin of the UAA and loving every minute of the journey. It's unfortunate I'm tearing through this but it certainly has been fun playing the boy with "quite the name". Anyone who makes liberal use of the word "bitch" any chance he can and properly, I might add, as well as throwing in the term "Ass Clown" (always a personal favourite of mine) demands that I obsess over him. Love that Travis Touchdown and can't wait for his second (and final ::sniff::) entry in this fantastic series.
Currently listening to: Murdoc Niccals on Pirate Radio 2. Please do not disappoint me new Gorillaz album!

Observation(s) of the Week: 01/24/2010 - 01/30/2010
On the Wii:
There should be a warning in the manual for the Wii usage that states "Do not play around cats".
I know there's one to be mindful of people and objects around you and Jazzie was already a victim of the wiimote.
But where's the warning that says, "if you play the wii and your hand/cursor is spotted by your cat, be warned - cat may attack moving cursor"?
I really hope there are no scratches on the TV. The sad part is is that I found it so amusing too until I realised the true menace Pumpkin was being to the flat panel.
On Final Fantasy Tactics:
Story wise, this game is amazing. I am still having a few difficulties playing after all these years. It's challenging and downright hard at times but I'm scraping by somehow.
However, I must remember to not go to bed with a battle weighing on my mind because all I can see in my dreams are ninja monks and the tiles on which they should be placed. Ugh.
Nerd Quote of the Day:
"My Powerhouse of a Ninja Monk with his dual-wielding sword action is much more superb than your Ninja Monk! Unless of course you have better swords equipped..."

Sunday Shenanigans
The End of Summer lime at the HOchieS went down yesterday with X, Alex and her family, and Frass.
We ate like goo'd times with macaroni pie, black rice courtesy of Alex's mom (yum!), BBQ ribs, beef & chicken, mashed potatoes, and rum swizzles.
Memorable Quotes of the Day:
Alex's Mom: Alex! Pull up that blouse! You act like you don't have titis!
Frass, on the creation of his Mii: Oh no! I look like a Spanish (after the addition of the mustache). Omg! I look like a burglar!
X: Yeah, that's why my mii walked away from you.
Or 2: That's right, you don't want to be burgled.

Mario Kart (Wii)

The Wii Wheel is fun but damn is this game hard! I guess I'll just need some time to really sit and play though but there are so many other distractions such as...
...Mario Party 8 (Wii)

Boo no longer reigns supreme and H1's Yoshi has been kicking ass! Well, as long as that damned Mario hasn't been cleaning up too much then I'm okay with that. Heh.
The World Ends With You

Initially, this game was a tad annoying and might still be with some of the horrid j-pop songs tossed in there but it's fun now, in a weird way that I can't explain.

Surprisingly, there's no character I really love but memories of yen and Tokyo in 2007 keep me interested. Also, I can collect 300 pins in the game and if anyone knows me, they know I love a pin. Wheeee!

Bad Luck, Boo
Mario Party 8 is turning out to be my nemesis unlike my good friend Mario Party 5.
Out of 5 games, I lost 4.
I finally won tonight thanks to sheer skill, a tad bit more thinking, loan komodo-ery and some luck.
Heh.
Memorable Conversation of the evening:
A pot of 61 coins got split up between Yoshi and Boo but Boo was favoured and got 31 with Yoshi getting 30.
Chrissy Lee (Mario): Who got 31?
H1 (Yoshi): Boo
Or 2 (Boo): Heehee.
Chrissy Lee: That's discrimination! Boo only got that extra coin because he's white!!!!!
Or 2: Well, it's not easy being green.

Wii Fit? More Like, Wii Fat
The HOchies found out yesterday that the new stay in shape or whatever the hell it is game for the Wii, Wii Fit is going to cost more than the damned console.
At $399.00, the Japanese have reaffirmed that they hate us and wish for us stoopid Americans to die because we are poor and can't afford to be 'fit'.
We're in a recession for eff's sake!
Edit 4/25/08: Clearly, Amazon like to keed because they switched the price. It's $90.00 and has been pre-ordered.
In other gaming news, does anyone have not so fond memories of those weed thingies in Final Fantasy VII? They'd show up in a field on the outskirts of Midgar, sometimes hang out with Chocobos I think, right when you left Midgar for the first time.
I have discovered they are my most hated enemies in Crisis Core. While I often wish they would look like this:

Or even this,

Sadly, this is what they really look like to Zack and by extension, me:

And while that may not be terribly horrendous to those of you who don't understand, I can assure you...they really are the stuff of nightmares. Curse you too, Hysteric Voices!
Finally to end this nerd rant, where are all the effin' fat chocobo feathers when you need them?
Memorable conversations of the past 2 days:
Raisins Alex: This new Pope isn't very "grandfather-ish" like the previous Pope.
Or 2: But at least he's smart. He's refusing a dinner with Bush.
Raisins Alex: Yeah, he knows nothing can absolve that man's sins. 'Gel oulla here, Boosh!!'
Or 2: Notice how the Pope isn't having a mass in Crooklyn?
H1: No one wants to go there.
Or 2: Yeah, but people in Crooklyn probably need the most blessings. Also, he's not going to NJ. As scary as this Pope looks, he really is clever.
H1: Yep, no one wants to go New Jersey either. Even the Pope knows.
Or 2: Yeah, if only bands would realise this too.
Or 2: Mountain Time exists! ::searches wiki:: There. You don’t believe Wiki?! There it is!
H1: I still don't understand it. What places in the world use mountain time? Arizona, it says. They also do not observe daylight savings, but the Hopi Nation within Arizona does, but the Navajo Nation within the Hopi Nation does.
Or 2: They all like to keed!
Currently listening to: "A Punch-Up at a Wedding" by Radiohead and one of my favourite songs ever (I love you Watanuki!! you to a lesser extent, Yuko's Watanuki. heh heh.) "April Fool" by S.E.N.S. Project, from the xxxHOLiC Original TV Soundtrack.

The Hatred For NJ Just Keeps On Growing
For some reason, concert promoters, bands or who the eff ever have been opting to go to New Jersey to put on their shows instead of NY.
I'm not sure why NYC's being blacklisted but it's damned annoying.
I've resigned myself to the fact that I will never see Stone Temple Pilots because goodness knows volatile, lovable Scott will quit the band in no time and mouth off to them like he did to Velvet Revolver (and the rest of STP, back in the day).
I will never see Radiohead. Those mothereffers are playing a festival in what they call "NY". I know you're not from here, RH but that's just damned insulting. Get a freakin' hold of yourselves! You can't fool me and Google maps! Tch. I mean, I didn't actually verify this with google maps but eff a festival anyway! And your four dates over there are making me reeeaaaally pissy right now.
The Nintendo Wii is also on my shit list. How dare they have a Mario Kart Wii tour go to Jersey and not NYC?! Okay, so maybe they'll have a big event closer to the date at Nintendo World but still! Not that I would ever go visit a Nintendo Tour but it's not right, anyway!
Maybe people in NJ are stupidly not playing the wii because they didn't pre-order.
After all, people in NJ are pretty stupid.
Especially you, Frass...Especially you.

Oh No.
I had my first Wii related incident today when Jazzie leaped from the window sill on to the recliner, just as I was playing jump rope in Rayman: Raving Rabbids.
Poor Jazz got knocked in the face by the Wii-mote and is now hesitant for me to touch her.
Here's hoping this will be only Wii related injury to visit the HOchies and those in our close proximity.

70 hours + and Counting
I've been meaning to post on this for a while but I figured I'd finish LofZ first before I said anything.
Nintendo Wii is goo'd times.
I feel sorry for all the losers who should have pre-ordered. Even that MC, even though that was awesome that you stayed outside all morning in front of Nintendo World to get yours.
When it came to the Wii, I did not mess around. It was pre-ordered on the first day reservations were being taken and picked it up the Sunday after I got back from London & Scotland. I feared for my life when all those kids were staring at me all hateful like as I walked out of Nintendo World but ah, the smirking.
I know, I'm evil.
The HOchieS and friends have had fun with the Wii thus far. We played many hilarious nights of Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz (I cannot wait for Beetchie to come around tomorrow so I can hand her ass to her in Paper Sumo Wrestling. Har Har except I best shut up before she lays the two-toed smack down on me), Wii Sports (especially that damned boxing) and I've logged about 70 hours on The Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess.
I finished it and though it was a good game, I felt it wasn't as fantastic as they made it out to be. I did, however, have some goo'd time moments with Midna, Wolf Link and my favourite Archery Take Downs and the really scary moments that gave me night terrors when those evils dropped from the sky.
Bughie J. tells me I did not love the game as much because I'm now a Zelda expert as I've played too many in that series. I suppose that's partially true... Still, it was good. You know how I love my Hottie Adult Link. And how can you not? Let us look upon him together:

Ah, goo' looking, even as a wolf.
One last message to Link: you know, if you held on to the Master Sword, bullsheet would stop happening to you, right?
So, yes, it's cool walking by Nintendo World most mornings and seeing peeps lined up for their systems but like HOchie 1 says every time - "Losers, you should have pre-ordered."
That's right, a winner is us.
