The Great 2011 Frenemies' Visit, Part III: Asshattery and Blokus

If there was one thing we did a lot of during Thanksgiving week, was play Blokus.  Budgie and Angelo introduced us to Blokus Jr. when they bought Boohead a copy of the game for his birthday.

We all were hooked on Blokus Jr. and after playing two players for a few days during the Frenemies' visit, Luuuuiiiisssss and everyone decided that a 10 p.m. run to Walmart was in order to get the full, adult version of Blokus.

The keyword here is that it was the 'adult' version.

The Great 2011 Frenemies' Visit, Part I: It's Love

Thanksgiving week seems as if it was ages ago.  We were fortunate to have some of the frenemies visit NYC that week and as per usual, it flew by.

It's awesome enough when frenemies hang out but it's twice as awesome when they bring you goodies and oh the goodies they brought.

A handful of tunnocks? Yes, please.

Reminder: Must go over there and eat last one before Luuuiiiissss gets to it.

A box full of fudge? Indeed.  And thanks.

Reminder: Inquire as to whereabouts of the fudge.

A plethora of multi-coloured and flavoured rums? Uh... yeah... why...not..?  Rum is always welcome.  The radioactive green one though? Huh.  It certainly makes my life (and cabinet) brighter!

And maybe my insides brighter too? Huh.

And Trinidad Didn't Happen

We're sorry to Pandy and Gills.

But the good news is is that Luuiiiissss has finally been diagnosed (and like I said, salmonella is just horrible) and now he can get the proper treatment.

Looks like it's work for me tomorrow but that's okay too. I'll not regret this day in the near future.

Happy Birthday, Pandy!

Does it suck to have a birthday the day before Jeebus'?

Trinidad on the Fly III

Last round of photos of the last 2 and a half days in Trinidad.

For the life of me, I couldn't tell what kind of animal that was. One of the pepperoni variety, maybe? No, TD5 sorted it out and now I am more educated and feeling slightly stoopid.

You can't tell just how ginormous that flag actually is from that shot but trust me, it's pretty damned massive. It could cover a small island! Hopefully a trade wind won't toss it on Tobago. As if Tobagonians needs more reasons to hate Trinis.

If that happens, we are prepared. We will send this bucket of KFC over that could feed their entire island.

And Kyle got me Red Meg... ...a..ants on the plants?!

Ah, the samaan tree. It's not a good a picture as Chrissy Lee's *note google images 'samaan tree' and you will find some coolness*, but that's the best I could muster from the car as we were driving past.

Indeed... There is nothing like some sun ripened potatoes.

I wonder if the guys went to the ball...Guys! Did you go? I was supposed to go with Aunty P. and wear this...

This last shot was taken in the airport which is a painful reminder of the times missed this past week. However, much to H1's pleasure, all you biatches should be getting doused in some ashes in a few hours. TD5, as per usual, they need to dump a barrel on you.

Well, thanks for the fun times peeps. We really appreciate all you did for us and most importantly, we were as always, really happy to see you guys and spend some time with, the going to bed at 4.30 most mornings and miss you terribly now.

Personally, I don't miss that rooster that gave me the evils and then proceeded to curse me out.

Or 2: 1
Roosters in Trinidad: 1

By the way, H1, I found the perfect song for your little All Fours Disaster!

Currently listening to: "Flowers on the Wall" by the Statler Brothers ('...playing solitaire 'til dawn/ with a deck of 51' - aharharharhar), "Isamashige" by Takanashi Yasuharu from the Mononoke soundtrack (noooooooo, I'm on the final episode!!!! I love this damned anime so much...sniff.. Medicine Seller, how I will miss you), and "Nantes" by Beirut (thanks to TD5 for this one. I'm slowly prying myself away from this song and discovering new good songs from their latest album).

The H1 Or 2

Went to sea,
In a beautiful, not pea green boat
They took some US and a whole lot of nothing else
wrapped up in a 60 pound note

They flew away for .5 and 4 days
To the land where the samaan grows

And there in the wood,
They became piggy-wigs where they stood
And ate every bullshart they could find off the damned island of Trinidad

Starting with Thursday's dinner

Mario's Pizza, which turned out to be a disappointment. The crust recipe has gone horribly wrong and the copious amounts of meatage have been cut back:

At least the pepper sauce remains phenomenal

In addition to pizza, elevensies pmsies came around for Round 2 and a belly full of KFC zingers were had. Sadly, there are no pictures of that to share.

Friday dawned, with a trip to the market in search of doubles but none were to be found (the early bird gets the worm and apparently the doubles).

The only way to cure a lack of doubles, is to nap away the depression, so napped we did and awoke to hear an MC - the sound of which made us go back to nap for another half an hour.

The nap failed to cure us of said MC but the watered down green sands he brought (no fault of his) helped us forget our woes some

but as you can see, we needed spees and a pastelle to recover as well.

Nothing can be right with the world, until Aunty P.'s chocolate cake is made and devoured first at 8 PM and then again at 2 AM on

Saturday morning

where our previous misfortune was rectified with a bag of the good stuff not attained on Friday

With limited time and not even half of the edible things on the island in Or 2's stomach, a trip to Maracas was in order for bake and shark.

OMG. GOO'D TIMES! Gaze upon the beauty of one of the greatest things on earth. And people wonder why I love me a shark. Tch. What's to question, people?

Also, what's not to love about a chow, shrimp wontons and Trinidadian KFC?

Sunday came after waking every hour to find out if TD5 had made it home safely, and brought the best damned breakfast one could have.

Or 2 hearts her some blood pudding, Kerrygold butter, hops, pawpaws, portugal and Scrambled Eggs.

An X & M Wedding Later (no pictures taken of the food - that'd just be kind of rude. Pictures of boobs can be taken but food, no), Monday arrived and the last day for eating had come with it.

::sniff::

Ramsaram's Peanut Punch,

beef pies,

cream soda of the good solo variety,

milk pennacools,

cheese, chicken and tuna puffs,

and of course, the favourite coloured popcorn were all had,

but was not met without some passing judgment upon thee.

More eats followed that night but no pictures are present for proof.
Rest assured it involved curried chicken, fried okra, melongene choka, tomato choka and roti.

The festivities only ended today even after being in NY for officially a week now. Why? Because like every good Trinidadian, we were made to bring food back with us by the peeps and thank goodness.

Duck, roti, curried mango, fudge, non-eaten zoomers (curse you, Frass! J/K), and pelau made from freshly shelled pigeon peas (thanks Uncle P.!) were all consumed within the last week.

Thank you to TD5, Pandy, Chrissy Lee and Aunty P. for putting up with my demands and pain in the asshattery and for acquiring most things of my list.

It is greatly appreciated and another list will be forthcoming.

Har Har.

Love you all and miss you terribly,

H1 and Or 2.

Part II of the Trinidad Adventures will be posted soon enough. Excuse the craziness of this one. I'm practically asleep on myself hya.

Memorable Memories & Quotes of the Trip:

The good times, the laughs and antics were plentiful and I cannot possibly remember it all to lay in print and that's what pictures are for but a few notes -

"What the eff! Stop putting shit on our bodies David Blaine!"

Or 2: I was judged for getting coloured popcorn!! Isn't that wrong?!
Georg: I'm kind of judging you myself right now.
Dar: One day, people in this world will not be judged by the colour of their popcorn.

Currently listening to: "Viva Rock" by Orange Range

Edit: A list of things eaten but not photographed/pictured are as follows - curried chicken, bussupshot, fried okra, bake and New Zealand cheddar.

Happy Birthday, Pandy!!

The HOchieS are thinking of you on this day but really we're mostly thinking about the pyos tomorrow.

Thanksgiving Week At The HOchieS

Thanksgiving Week has ended and the HOchieS are not sure how the time went by so quickly.
This week, we were visited by some of the HOchie favourites - Pandy, Jills, Beetchie and X.
The other favourites were unable to come this year and while TD5 may be excused, MC is not and therefore he is DTU.

Good laughs, cold dim sum, too much coca cola that took up valuable dim sum space, tales of a crazy Jewish Subway Lady and a Bacon Preaching Prophet, beer of the apple and raspberry variety, attempted killings-whiny-snoring Pumpkin and Jazzie cat moments, serial killer Dexter anxiety times, paprikash with baby halushkas, calls from TD5 at 6.26 AM and of course, Thanksgiving feast of meats and/or carbs were shared.

What did not go down was The Oxtails' first gig. Due to some technical difficulties involving a microphone, the lead singer was not being judged (by a computer) on her singing.
Money was spent on clothing without the band manager's consent.
It was a debacle.

All in all we had fun, hectic times.

Thanks for the goo'd times, Frenemies.

Quotes of the Week:

X: I have a line of fat down my leg and then it ends in this dimple! It's nasty!
(and later): Why you feeling up my leg?!
Or 2: Oh, I wasn't really. My hand got too close and sank into your dimple.
X: ::slaps Or 2::

Pandy: A Toast To Us!

Pandy: I'm sorry about the dumplings. I ate them all. I don't know what happened.
H1: Let me guess, you also get stupid over dumplings?

Beetchie: I have issues with Pandy. He ate all the dumplings!
Or 2: Uhhh...he took food out of your mouth?
Beetchie: Yeah! What's up with that? First the paprikash then the turkey soup? You can tell him I'm not happy with him. Quote me.

Or 2 (during Rock Band): Do you want to restart the song?
X: Yeah. Let's do that...
PS3/Rock Band message: if you quit now, you will lose 647 fans. Do you wish to continue?
X: ::stunned silence:: nooo, we can't lose our fans!!!!

Memorable Moment of the Week:

Beetchie crashing a 1 year old birthday party. Well done, Beetchie. Well done.

Good Luck Today!

Good Luck on the Dragon Boat Race, Pandy and MC.

A Winner is You!

Monday, May 07, 2007

To: Battler. From: Pandy.

Battler,

Pandy wanted to leave you a response to your comment on the Dragon Boat Incident. If I may refresh your memory, your comment was "is that the MC in a hello kitty floatie? Was that a pommie ship?".

Pandy would have left his comment in the comment section, if not for the jpeg response he needed to leave. While he understands that you were trying to rag on MC, he feels you still crossed a line. I have offered to post his response here. It is as follows:

This is For Anyone Who Has Ever Been Called A Pussy

Who's the Pussy Now?!

~EOM~

I told you not to cutie-fy the Dragon Boat.

Dragon Boat Woes: Chapter III?

We may have to do these on a weekly basis, or at least as we see fit to do updates.

While no sinking may have gone down yesterday during training, a new member of the team joined - Horace who was drilled in the ways of being "the man at the helm".

Pandy's account is as follows:

Or 2: How goes it today, Stupendous Man?

Pandy: training was rough. Horace was the one to take a dive for the team today

Or 2: he didn't sink the boat, did he?

Pandy: no, he saved us all by sacrificing himself

Or 2: because that's the kind of thing I'd expect from him. ahahahaha. Yeah, that's much like him too. Should have kicked MC out the boat to save everyone, is what SM should have done

Pandy: lol! MC didn't sink us today but his side of the boat was riding pretty low in the water :)

Or 2: because one side of lopsided assback is longer than the next, I told you. Anyway, watching Sopranos?

Pandy: he he he, nah, trying to figure out where we ran into problems today

Or 2: ha. very nice. Don't forget to strongly consider the lopsided assback

Pandy: he he he, will do.

And today, MC's account of yesterday's events:

Or 2: I hear Horace took one for the team yesterday? now HE's a Jack Bauer

MC: Ha far from. He's a Tony Almeda

Or 2: the true hero of the show?

MC: Almost took us to Tobago. Hell No. Dead ass Tony. We didn't sink yesterday, but then again Pandy wasn't on the boat much. hmmmmmm

Or 2: I told you to paddle to Tobago. Jazz Festival was on. Oh, is that the story?

MC: Horace was taking us there..trust me. He was at the helm and next thing we knew, we were in the middle of the Ocean

Or 2: ahahahahahaahahahahaha

MC: I was like "Oh no". "Not again"

Or 2: hahahahaha. "at least it wasn't me this time". ?. What is this dragon boat training for, exactly?

MC: The dragon boat racing competition in June. Where we race against other teams. Its an annual event. We're the Sea Spartans. We plan to have red capes and speedos.

... ah, goo'd times.

And now for a final word from Pandy for today -

Pandy: ...well, all you missed was when Horace took one for the team after MC started to rock the boat from left to right. There's actually some video footage which Horace will try to upload. Don't want to sell anyone out but if u slow it down to 1/8 speed see if u see anyone paddling air :P

And so we await the video footage. The Dragon Boat Incident: Chapter IV is pending.

Quote of today from H1: If I were in Trinidad still, I would join the Dragon Boat team. I wouldn't join Pandy's Dragon Boat, I'd join another team. There wouldn't be as many laughs but at least I'd be dry. And winning.

The Dragon Boat Incident: Chapter II

We have gathered evidence to try to shed some light on the Dragon Boat Incident of 04/22/07.

A source, (reliable and unbiased, honestly!), sent us photographs of what really happened. The pictures do not lie.

Photographic Evidence 1, otherwise known as "The Happy, Pretty-Dry Times":

Please notice how the beloved Dragon Boat is just moving right along there - it's the sun, the sea, the sky and the Dragon Boat.

Photographic Evidence 2, referred to now as "What is that? The First Signs of Trouble? Is that Frantic Paddling and a Low Boat, maybe?":

Photographic Evidence 3, or the "That's Definite Trouble! The Man in Front isn't there anymore!" shot:

And finally, Photographic Evidence 4:

It looks a whole lot like this - We've crashed. We've burned. We've tilted, not capsized. We're not in any mortal danger and the water is clearly shallow enough that we can stand in it.

H1 and I don't see any Jack Bauerism type heroism going down, MC.

Nor do we see any hottie 18 year olds, Pandy.

Still, this story has been nominated for The HOchies 2007 award in "The Hal Hal Moment" of the year category.

The other entries are pending but it's only April. You betches are too hilarious to not give us anymore gems for the year.

This is going to be hard to top but we look forward to all your insanity.

The Dragon Boat Incident

I'm just going to have to post the conversation. It's classic stuff this:

Or 2: what are you doing today?

MC: Oh relaxing now, Had dragon boat training this morning, when Pandy capsized the boat

Or 2: Are you sure Pandy capsized the boat?

MC: Well maybe not capsized, but we did sink and had to swim to shore, thanks to Pandy

Or 2: hahaha, I don't know if I believe this story

MC: Had to get Jack Bauer and rescue everyone on da boat

Or 2: you went Jack Bauer on their asses?

MC: Well maybe not the rescue bit, but it was Pandy's fault that we sank....or at least I blame him

Or 2: well there are only two things Jack Bauer does - rescue and interrogate
soo..
if you didn't rescue...how did the sinking go down?
and...where's the dragon boat?

MC: Well there was the first time when the boat rocked violently and Pandy took a dive for the team, he had a poor entry, so I gave him a 6.5.
The second time, he decided to take us all with him.
Before you know it, 3 people were overboard and people were screaming for help, so I had to jump into action and rescue all the ladies.

Then the boat started taking in water and then we were all trying to salvage paddles, look out for drowners and swim to shore. All this while Mish sits down on shore taking pictures. We practice down in Chagaramus, now I think I may have cholera from the damn dirty sea water.

Or 2: Ew. Goodness knows I've pooped in there are a few times. hahahaha. That is an awesome story

MC: Thanks Ho. Of course its a little more salacious and I'm the hero in my account. Pandy may say otherwise but this is my truth and I'm sticking to it.
