Edit on 10/12/2009:
For some reason, I had a double post of the End of Year Review III.
AND! I realised I didn't post about Keane's "Perfect Symmetry" album on the end of Year Review for Music.
So, where does it fit in that list?
Way down.
Waaaaaay low.
What a crap album, that was.
For $3.99, I guess it wasn't bad but after the amazing second album "Under the Iron Sea", this one just FAILED.
There are about four songs I like with "Spiralling" as 80's cheese and horrible as it is, I love that stupid song. A lot. It's embarrassing really. But I'm not alone. H1 loves it too.
Other noteworthy mentions:
"Better Than This", "Haven't Told Me Anything", and "Love is the End". Other than that...craptacular!
This should have come out in 2009 to make the bad album year complete...

2006 - Fun Times With The HOchies List
The trickery I do so love to lay down on you guys! This isn't exactly the Fun Times with the HOchies 2006 list. I already did a photo post of that to you guys. No, this is really the Or 2's Best of 2006 Music, Concert and Broadway List.
Joke's on me because some of you are going to skip over this, yeah? Asshats. That's right, HOchie 1! I called you an asshat!
Anyway, of the albums I got this year and mind you, some of them weren't released this year but they were new to me, here they are and the songs that were best from them:
Death Cab for Cutie
We Got the facts and We're Voting Yes - so far disappointing and I can't even pick a song from here yet but I will listen again in the near future
Something About Airplanes - "Bend to Squares" is a fantastic song. Other than that, this album is another I'll need to listen to because so far it's boring as heck. Sorry TD5.
Transatlanticism - "Tiny Vessels", "Title and Registration"
Audioslave
Revelations - "Shape of Things To Come", "Moth", Wide Awake
With no tour planned for the year after the album came out, I don't know what's going with Audioslave. They had one of the worst songs this year, "Original Fire". I cringe everytime I hear it. This album, other than those three songs, is mostly forgettable and that is painful for me to say. Sweet D., you can keep him even though I still love you, T.M.
The Streets
The Hardest Way to Make An Easy Living - "Can't Con an Honest John", "The Hardest Way To Make an Easy Living", "When You Wasn't Famous". This is another not-so-great album after the golden greatness of Mike Skinner's first two.
Tool
10,000 Days - "The Pot", "Vicarious". "The Pot" is one of the greatest songs this year but Tool, why are you making me add you to the list of not-so-great overall?! Maybe if you stopped your bullshit pretentiousness, then you'd make an album that wasn't one long boring song and an extension from your last! Geez.
OK Go
OK Go - "Get Over It" (Hilarious video and amazing song), "Hello My Treacherous Friends" (I like the bit about the spider children. I don't understand it but I like it as long as they're not Hobo Spiders, that is. Right X?), "1000 Miles Per Hour"
Oh No - "Oh Lately It's So Quiet", "It's a Disaster", "Maybe This Time". I took a chance on this band this year starting with this album and loved it so much that I forced them upon SF (but you know you should be thanking me, right, SF?), made enemies with Hinder and went out and bought OK Go's first. This is a really fun album and they seem to be a fun bunch of guys who are really about their fans and that's always a plus.
Thom Yorke
The Eraser - "Analyse" (One of the best songs this year!), "The Clock", "Harrowdown Hill". Thom Yorke, that loveable freak. I liked this album well enough. Oh and "The Drunk Machine" from the Harrowdown Hill EP is pretty good too.
Arctic Monkeys
Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not - "Dancing Shoes", "Perhaps Vampires is a Bit Strong But...", "Mardy Bum", "You Probably Couldn't See For The Lights But You Were Staring Straight At Me".
Okay, so I stayed away from this band realizing how hyped up they were as soon as they came out until of course, a 7 hour flight to London and a broken pair of Ipod headphones forced me to make use of Virgin Atlantic's In-Flight Entertainment Service. So, I listened and actually liked it. It's not to be taken seriously, the whole thing's about how to hook up on the dancefloor (yeah, let's say the Arctic Monkeys can write only as well as, well, Arctic Monkeys. But ah, the lyrics and music are fun so whatever) and wow, do they like long titles.
Mindless Self Indulgence
Another Mindless Rip Off - (it truly is but at $8.99 and my undying love for this band, I had to get it. They know we're idiot fans who will buy anything but we know it too so it doesn't make it better but it makes it something) "Born to be Beheaded", "Frying Pan", "What Do They Know?" remix by MSI VS. Julien-K. & Chester Bennington
Shut Me Up: The Remixes + 3
This was truly disappointing! I mean, I rushed out to buy it for MSI's cover of "Big Poppa" because if you've heard their covers of "Tom Sawyer" and "Bring The Pain", you'll agree with me that MSI can cover a song like nobody's business but ugh, I was so sad and unimpressed by "Big Poppa". It wasn't horrible but it wasn't A+ material either. It was rather boring.
Despierto Los Ninos - "Alienating my Audience", "Joke", "Wack". And these songs are examples of why I love them because they're self-loathing, fan-hating, fun time bitches.
The Legend of Zelda
From The Oracle of Ages Sdtk - "Tower of Black", "Ralph's Theme" and no, Ralph is NOT my BFF!!!!!!!
From "The Oracle of Seasons" Sdtk - "Castle of Despair"
Final Fantasy VII Advent Children
"Battle in the Forgotten City", "Beyond the Wasteland", "Sairin: Kata Tsubata No Tenshi". Yes, "One-Winged Angel" remains bad-assed even after given a rock on opera makeover.
And now for the two greatest albums all year...
Keane
Under the Iron Sea - "Nothing in My Way", "Leaving So Soon?", "A Bad Dream". Thanks to some drugs, Keane released a stellar album this year. The entire thing is amazing save maybe one song I refuse to listen to. They would have made number one on my list and heck knows they're really close to being at that spot but of course...
MUSE
Black Holes & Revelations - "Map of the Problematique", "Hoodoo", "Take A Bow". I'd be a traitor if I didn't have them as the most revered. But in all honesty, had they not made an incredible album, Keane would have taken this one. Every track is great except for that damned "Knights of Cydonia" that I hate but absolutely love in concert. And "Invincible" which grew on me because it's also great in concert.
[Personal Message: Matt, I love you. Please send me tickets and VIP passes to your show at Wembley Stadium on June 16th of next year. No one got tickets for me even though I pleaded that that was the only present I wanted for Christmas. Bitches.]
But talk about another hideous album cover...
For those of you who missed receiving a copy of this c.d. from me or TD5 this year, no worries...as soon as their concert dvd comes out, you're all getting one.
Now for my list of the shows (concerts & broadway) I saw this year starting with the best and ending with the worst:
1. MUSE at Wembley Arena. "Assassin (Grand Omega Bosses Mix)" is the most bad-assed performance in concert I've ever seen and/or heard.
2. Mindless Self Indulgence (tied with below) - oh how I love Jimmy. Within two years, baby, I'll have Urine tattoed to my foot. This was my first real pit. I'm alive. Barely. If not for Beetchie and Jess, I wouldn't be posting right now.
2. Evil Dead The Musical (tied with above) - great because X got roughed up.
4. Spamalot - I like Lancelot; he likes to dancealot. And he was pretty hot.
5. MUSE @ The Hammerstein Ballroom - small venue greatness because I was close to my man and fun because now SF is hooked.
6. Franz Ferdinand @ The Hammerstein Ballroom - as my Budgie would say, "if it's free, it's for me" and then there was the Alex moment.
7. Wicked - There's nothing like a gOOd-lOOkin' flying monkey. Yes, it is possible.
8. Les Miserables - the slo'mo' death scene was hilarious even though I don't think they meant it to be. The flush was just damned lame.
9. (and now for the worst show, please view two blogs before this one) Matisyahu. That's right, MC. Matisdamnedyahu.
And this next bit is for my own purposes -

Reminiscing
I happened upon Knight Rider this morning as I was flipping channels. I don't have a crush on David Hasselhoff despite what Mitch *Connors* may think but I did love Kitt.
Until now.
"Hey, what's that cheesey music Kitt is playing? Kitt's not holding his lane either! And what the...a tape deck?! He should have been rockin' an ipod since way back in '87! WDA! Did Kitt just diss NY?!" - Me.
Yeah man, now it's on. For a technologically advanced auto, you're telling me he didn't have an ipod?! Tch.
And hence the reason I always liked Carr better. I'm sure Carr had a special edition U2 Ipod installed and tore up the streets of NY while rockin' some Rage Against the Machine.
Having enough of Kitt's crap for crap, I switched over and came across Highway To Heaven.
Ahhh, I was remembering the good times until reality hit.
"Hey, this Highway to Heaven is sounding a little preachy." - Me.
SWITCH.
So now I'm watching Danny Phantom. While it's a little preachy itself, the pretty colours, witty dialog and cuteness of the DP makes me forget all that.
A few other things I wanted to give quick mention to:
The Keane debacle continues. They've cancelled their US Tour due to lead singer Tom's rehabilitation.
On Guinea Pigs: A gross misuse of the term 'pig' because if I can't get pork out of those little bitches, then what's the point?
And the new WTF is WDA. Because sometimes you need a little "Wat de ass" in your conversation.
Velociraptors - special or smart? I've learnt that food came first on their killing agenda so nevermind a scenario of say - a brush fire surrounds them while munching on some Triceratops prey, leading to their imminent death. Whatever. At least they ensured that they were well-fed before death. That's how I'd like to go.
Special animals need the most love and that's why I love them the most. Even if they are furry.
Despite it's candy taste, you shouldn't guzzle smirnoffs like you would Dr. Peppers. Oooo, headachey.
Until now.

Keane Singer Tom Chaplin Goes Into Rehab
Keane Postpones U.S. Tour While Tom Chaplin Goes Into Rehab for Drug and Alcohol Addiction
LONDON Aug 22, 2006 (AP)— A planned U.S. tour by Keane has been postponed while singer Tom Chaplin is being treated for drug and alcohol addiction, the British band said Tuesday.
In a statement posted on the band's Web site, Chaplin, 27, said he was "having to deal with an increasing problem with drink and drugs, and the time has come to get the professional help I need to sort myself out."
The tour had been due to start in Chicago on Sept. 7.
"I feel desperately disappointed to be letting down our fans, but I want to get myself right now so that I can be back on the road for the rest of the year," Chaplin said.
Keane had already canceled several appearances, citing Chaplin's "exhaustion."
Two things -
1. I guess it's a good thing I didn't get tickets to see this show because my ass would be pIssed.
2. I knew that album was exceptionally fantastic for a reason! As we all know, and as sad as it is to say, singers/bands write much better music when on drugs. It was true of Stone Temple Pilots! It's cool when they get help on a personal level but man do my ears suffer. And it's always about my ears.

D-H F
The Internet Bringing Back the Dead (?), Cave People and Zombies, oh my!
This HOchie broke out of work early to do a Horror movie Double-Header Friday with good friends Beetchie and the Giant Kitty. Yes, Mitch *Connors*, Giant Kitty is SF.
We started out with Pulse. I knew this movie was going to be crap but being that I have a heterosexual girl crush on Suga'Face #1, Kristen Bell of Veronica Mars fame, I felt the need to go support her. And she truly is a Suga'Face but I'm not used to seeing her be so dense... so smart on VM. Not so much in this movie... Blondes. Tch.
Not much to say about that movie other than there were some freakish moments but we're still kind of confused as to exactly what went on there. I might need to go watch the original Japanese movie to try to figure it out but as we all know, those Japanese are often hella confusing as is, so I expect no real clarity.
With 50 minutes to kill between the end of that movie and the beginning of The Descent, we decided that a bathroom break was in order and whatever else we could find to do.
So who knew that the AMC 25 had a terrace? But let me tell you people now, keep away from that damned terrace! It's really frickin' high up there. Beetchie was holding on for dear life but more importantly, we blame the terrace for making us get the only available seats located in the second row from the front. Ugh, eye hurt! And for those of you following, so we had 50 minutes and we still managed to get crappy seats but if you had to backpack it through that theatre, as Beetchie pointed out, you'd be late too!
With a sleepy giant kitty on my right, a The Descent veteran on my left, and a theatre full of crazy MFs, we settled down and prepped for gore-filled fun.
Some girls screaming next to us scared Beetchie. What I don't understand is this: haven't they ever watched horror movies before? Every 'scary' moment that came, I certainly knew was coming. The movie followed a simple horror formula. It was still cool though.
We then headed to Dave & Busters (Beetchie, I didn't know you had stock in that place. You do, don't you, Buster? - har har) for some Zombie killing action. My accuracy was 67% the first time and incredibly less the second. Uh, my rings hurt my shooting hand. I know, I'm supposed to aim for the head but I swear, that thing was not registering properly. Beetchie agrees with me. Our "House of the Dead 4" ranks - C & D after level 1. Our rank after level 2: unknown. We didn't make it that far. Zombies ate our brains! I hate me some zombies... Beetchie and I will go back and rock that another day with more money and more time. Oh yes. Oh yes.
WTF moment of the night:
This girl was on her idiot man's shoulders and I thought it was a kid. And she was reaching out to touch Beetchie's hair but then I realized that it wasn't a kid, it was a grown ass girl being a bitch because she thought it funny to mess with people on the street. Why the hell was that bitch messing with my friend? Don't touch her hair! I hate assholes. I was thinking I should trip him which would result in her falling off his shoulders and breaking her stupid face but I also thought, two giant black guys and one ghetto bitch against little me would probably land me in the hospital. Karma will get them and I'll be out of the hospital.
Quotes of the day:
"Oh HEEELLLLSSS NO. No Bitch, you betta' run yo' ass outta there! If it was a Chinese girl in that situation, you best believe her ass is gone. Why do you think there's so many of us in the world? We know how to act." - Beetchie, on Pulse.
"Oh no...poor Christina Milian. ::sad face:: She's too cute to die." - Franz.
"DAMNED TERRACE!" - Me.
"That Juno reminds me of Patty. It's Patty!
And she's...hardcore. Don't mess with Patty! Yay, Patty! Oh, Patty's kind of scaring me." - Franz
"You killed her child, that ugly face that only an ugly mother can love! Oooooooo..." - Me.
"You know Franz, just because you can't keep your husband doesn't mean you have to take it out on me." - Me, on Franz leading us to salvation out of the cave in The Descent.
Currently listening to: "Is It Any Wonder?" by Keane. Or what HOchie 1 and I like to call it,
"Give me one last chance and you'll be satisfied.
Give me two chances and you won't be denied.
Well my heart is where it's always been,
My head is somewhere in between,
Give me one more chance,
Let me be your lover tonight.
Is it any wonder...? or was it, you're the real thing?
Even better than the real thing?"
Despite my just poking a little fun at them, while I'm on the subject of Keane, I must say I am incredibly impressed by their second album "Under the Iron Sea". It is an amazing piece of work. I'm actually saddened that I will not see them at the Hammerstein on September 13th. ::sniff:: I'll catch my crazy pianist 'hardcore rocker', Tim Rice-Oxley next time.

Oooooooo..." - Me."You know Franz, just because you can't keep your husband doesn't mean you have to take it out on me." - Me, on Franz leading us to salvation out of the cave in The Descent.

Or 2's Review: Part I - The Awesome Times
In pictures:
Here we have poorly scanned tickets to the good times: U2, Foo Fighters, Weezer & Audioslave.
Isn't Link the cutest?

And to the right - the top of his head where the signing was done. So can anyone tell me? Does it say "Shigeru Miyamoto" or does it say "Idiot Child"?
Note: Ignore the hand and ugly fingernails.
And now for some other things worth mentioning in the Month of October:
1. Keane (opening act for U2)- You keep rocking out to music that is virtually impossible to rock out to, little keyboardist!!!!!!!!!!!!
2. Hot Hot Heat (opening act for Weezer & Foo Fighters) - Enjoyable enough for me to buy 3 songs from your band off Itunes and trying to fanagle your albums for a friend.

And here from that time I was 48th Street & 5th Avenue Ho.
I will thank you for not laughing at me like Miyamoto san did.Isn't Link the cutest?

The Birthday Month goes on and on and on.
Hochie 1... or 2 signing in.
It is really ass cold today but at least it is not raining anymore...
Hochie or 2 has already filled you in on its thoughts about the month so what do I have to add?
Well, to begin with I spent quite a trainload of mons on the birthday month because as we all know or will come to know, Hochie or 2 loves it some material wealth and that Hochie is quite wealthy. It really has been a good month so far with the U2 concert on the 7th that really was extraordinary as usual. Bono is still yummy even when he preaches. The Edge looks great, sounds great. Larry is sporting his Irish mohawk again but I still lurve him and Adam is as underappreciated as ever. Keane opened for them at the Garden and sounded better than expected but still the kind of band I appreciate more in the car rather than in concert. I totally recommend a U2 concert to anyone...even you out of your gourds, self-proclaimed "non-fans". I already converted 2 people and will continue to press on with that - an addendum to my life's work.
October 8: "Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit" opened and we ventured forth we three to give Nick Park our money in the dead of night when we were sure that any responsible parent would have their offspring in bed. Surprised at the number of elderly couples there arsen around with us while two of us three thoroughly enjoyed W&G.
Week of October 9: So while it may not be the rain and storming of Katrina proportions, our part of the world labored under 7 days of rain which resulted in our basement becoming soaked and now smelly. Lots of wet vacuuming ensued but to no avail. The carpet is coming out and the work begins. I have too many books but in that vein, why are books not recyclable in this town? There are some that I cannot donate but that does not mean that I just want to throw them in the city dump since that seems such a crime. Crap for crap. We ended the work week us 2 and three more with the Foo Fighters/Weezer concert that I have to say kicked arse. Weezer is phenomenal. Rivers is chibi. The bassist Scott is the hottest geek I have ever seen and I am hating on that girl who cheated a qualified person a chance to play onstage with Weezer so she essentially ruined some person's chance, Weezer's wonderful overture and gave me a few days of murderous thoughts.
[Give me a few lines more here on this because I have to get it out of my system - What part of "okay, we need someone who can really play acoustic guitar to come up here and help us out on Undone" did she not understand??!! Wait, wait, she must be of lesser intelligence or was caught up in a selfish moment or just really wanted to look like a ginormous idiot or all. Her parents must be so proud, which reminds me that I am hating on them too for producing that piece of quality from their loins. Okay. Done.]
Foo Fighters rocked. Us 2 sat down for "My Hero" and I would have sat down for "Monkey Wrench" if not for the fact that they closed the show with that song. Thank you Kurt Cobain for the Foo Fighters.
October 15: We set off to the Jack O'Lantern Blaze last night and were wowed by some of the alleged 3,000 pumpkins that were carved and decorating the Van Cortlandt Manor estate. I feel that for 12USD, I should not have had to suffer so many creative-less pumpkins that littered my eyesight at the beginning of the trail but they were nearly forgotten by the time we got to the celtic section and then the underwater series. Quite impressive. Of course, after getting my blood pressure down and feeling a smile in my heart that made its way to my face, we were herded into a gift shop! I almost ran over a kid trying to get out of there to preserve the smile in my heart if not on my face. On another note, We 2 were quite amused to see Jeebus carved on a few pumpkins showing the world that Pagans and Christians can coexist even if it is on a little orange pumpkin.
Audioslave on the 29th. The good times go on and on.
The Baby Next Door has turned Terrible Two and we are worried.
Song for the Day: "Perfect Situation" - Weezer
Show for the Day: Samurai Champloo
Thought for the Day: Killing Chu Chus is not as satisfactory as chopping bushes.
Laters.

This here is our start up entry - the gOOd times and not as gOOd times had by the HoChies in the month of October so far.

October 7:
the best band in the world. It's U2 for you people who for some reason are insane and do not know that. "Crumbs from Your Table" was played for us (it's only been done twice in concert you know)...Screw you other people. We're special....
The not so good times that night - a three hour commute back home after the concert. Not fun times. Not at all.

October 15:
3,000 of them, we swear it! At least that's what 'they' said. I tried counting all those Jack O'Lanterns at the Blaze but I gave up before I counted the first. It was merely too much effort. Not to mention being that I slept for only 5 or so hours after the concert, counting pumpkins may have put me to sleep. Jumping sheep and stationary pumpkins...same difference. The highlights of the blaze - the snake display, the aquarium exhibit which was super awesome and that one pumpkin that was lazily carved with nothing but two slanted eyes. The low(?)lights of the blaze - 'they' also said we'd have pumpkin cookies and hot apple cider to look forward to at the end of the trail but all we got was herded into the gift shop. The cider ran out and the cookies were hotdogs. And we had to pay for them if we wanted as well. So now I'm thinking...if 'they' lied (lieeeeeesssss) to me about that then I suspect there may have only been 2,999 pumpkins at that damned thing.
What's coming up this week:
October 19:
South Park, my friends. South Park
Goo'day.
Currently playing (in my head): "Helicopter" by Bloc Party
